Shift Supervisor (Aluminum Extrusions – BRT)
BRT Extrusions, located in Niles, OH, is looking for an experienced supervisor from the extrusions or manufacturing industry to manage a shift or several shifts in one or more areas of the department.
Pay will be commensurate with supervisory and manufacturing experience. The hourly wage will range between $19 and $21 an hour. OT is 1.5X the regular rate, and this position is eligible for quarterly bonuses.
Shift Supervisor Overview:

BRT Extrusions is looking for a motivated Extrusion Supervisor. Duties of the Extrusion Supervisor include, but are not limited to, supervising a crew of up to 7 employees on an extrusion press, check extrusions per work instruction, and train new employees on best practices. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as an extrusion supervisor, be able to use measuring instruments (i.e., Calipers) and have above average math skills. A successful Extrusion Supervisor will manage a press and its crew to help BRT Extrusions and all employees here grow and progress in the fast-paced environment of manufacturing.
The Shift Supervisor will:
Supervise a crew of up to 7 employees on a specific press, ensuring proper processes/safety protocol are followed.
Handle employee attendance challenges and employee conflict and performance management.
Direct, train, coach and develop hourly team members, including providing frequent and constructive feedback, recognizing good performance and addressing performance issues.
Ensure a safe work environment through education and training, promoting safety awareness and accountability, and identifying and addressing potential hazards.
Track productivity and completion of orders during shift.
Be responsible for reporting any safety incidents/accidents or maintenance challenges to the appropriate contact.
Operate industrial vehicles and equipment.
Move product and/or materials manually as required.
Comply with all Company policies and ensure employees do the same.
This position will often use computers and work a flexible schedule based on production needs.
Requirements of The Shift Supervisor
Must have 3 years of experience as a shift, manufacturing supervisor. (Extrusions Experience is a plus)
Must be patient and have proven people management skills.
Must be 18 years of age to work in the plant.
Must be able to work varying shifts as needed.
Be reliable and have good attendance.
Must have ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing and to understand basic instructions in English.
Must have better than average math skills: reading blueprints, use measuring tools related to extrusions industry: protractors, micrometers, calipers are a plus and will train.
Must be able to work varying shifts as business needs change.
Physical requirements for the Shift Supervisor:
This position requires the individual to work in a factory/manufacturing environment. The temperatures can fluctuate from hot to cold and the noise level is high. An individual in this role will be able to walk, bend, stoop, twist, turn, climb, and push/pull frequently. With proper safety equipment, an individual in this role may work above ground level (off the ground) occasionally. An individual in this role will need to be always aware of movement and/or noises around them. An individual in this role must move 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally. An individual in this role will remain stationary and move about the factory as needed per essential duties of the position. An individual in this role will be an effective communicator verbally and in writing, and this role requires individuals to read, follow and give written procedures to employees with or without reasonable accommodations.
